The Color of Water
Chapters 15-End

Pg. 245 Quote:
"I loved that man more than life itself and at times I wished the good Lord would have taken me instead of him, because he was a much more better person for living than me."

Response:
I chose this quote because it really shows how Ruth felt towards her husband.  She loved Dennis with all her heart and was hit very very hard by his death.  She had 8 children to look after alone, and without Dennis, life was just a huge bad dream for Ruth.

Analysis:
I have learned that Ruth feels a little guilty for Dennis' death even though it was out of her reach.  She thinks that she should have died instead of Dennis.  I have also learned that this is one of the things that made Ruth the way she is.  On page 244, it says that When Dennis died, a part of me died with him.  Ruth felt quite passionate about this man and when he finally died, Ruth's world came crashing down on her.

Questions:
1.  Was this book a good book in  your opinion?  Why or why not?

2.  What is your final opinion on Ruth?  What do you think about her?  How about James?
